Toronto Blue Jays Secure World Series Meeting Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer contributed to the Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their initial Fall Classic following 1993 by overcoming the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.

Trailing 3-1, outfielder George Springer smashed a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 series triumph in the seven-game series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, the city, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

George Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, placing him third all-time after Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another person on planet Earth that I'd choose in that moment besides George Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

The Mariners, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Wilson said "certainly that it's painful" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but commended their performance this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he continued.

Toronto's team secured the title on both previous visits in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
