The President Calls Relatives of Attacked National Guard Soldiers to White House

President Donald Trump stated on the weekend that he has asked the family of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in serious condition.

Memorials across the state have been held in their remembrance.

White House Offer

The president explained he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told reporters. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Mourners gathered over the past few days at Webster County high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to support public safety in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that instructors hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to support those in need.”

Service arrangements for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Steps and Policy Revisions

Officials have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy prompted the administration to pause asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Status of the Airman

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told a news show that she aimed to speak to the family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with honor, according to the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” he informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
