The Details Known About the Fatalities of the Bondi Terror Attack
No fewer than 16 lives were killed and more than 40 were hurt when assailants opened fire at a Hanukkah celebration at Bondi Beach, an attack Australian authorities have labeled a act of terrorism.
According to the most recent information, officials have stated the number of fatalities remains at 16, encompassing one of the suspected gunmen. Moreover, 42 people with injuries were taken to medical facilities.
The deceased are still awaiting officially identified, but police believe their ages are between 10 and 87 years old.

Eli Schlanger
London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Described as a father-of-five, he worked as the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Relatives and friends described him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to spread happiness and light, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a family member said.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the birth of their youngest child in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She described the moments before the shooting, explaining they had been standing together when the shooting erupted. “He pushed his body up because he wanted to stay near me,” she said.
The pair were both survivors of the Holocaust, having faced immense hardship in their youth. They had later relocated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French authorities have confirmed that French man Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Publicly, a senior official declared that France stood with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This despicable act is a fresh and tragic example of a revolting outpouring of hatred against Jews that we must combat,” the message read.
One Child
A 10-year-old girl who was rushed to the a children's hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
A national of Israel was among those killed during the attack, according to reports referencing the Israeli foreign ministry.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people transported to hospital, many remain under care, with a number in a critical state. The injured comprise two officers who attended the scene.
One of the injured is a bystander who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the gunmen. Described as a hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Sources state he was injured and is receiving treatment in hospital.
Communicating, he described the incident as an “horrific scene,” but also noted the response of those who rushed to help. He stated he believed it was a “stroke of luck” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was also injured in the shooting. He told reporters he listened to “a large number” of gunshots.
“I thought it was something less lethal, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he said. “I’ve been shot myself. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
