That Gory Cartoon Film Ending That Haunts Viewers
Out of all the adult-oriented cartoon movies I have personally viewed, nothing has stuck with me quite like the fear-filled ending of a explicitly bloody and highly provocative 2022 movie The Unicorn Wars.
Back in 2015’s, this Spanish filmmaker developed a dark, somber , frequently brutal universe that included a few small , desolate glimmers of hope.
Although Unicorn Wars seems like it originated from a desire to advance animation even more, the filmmaker explained that it was rather an effort to express a global, multicultural message regarding “the common origin of every conflict.”
That idea is communicated through a band of vividly colored bears , obviously modeled after a well-known line of cuddly figures.
Maturing in a community centered on aggression and the defense industry, a lot of these animals are obsessed with killing the mythical beasts, because of a religious scripture that claims the bears they used to be kings of the woods, before the unicorns expelled them.
Some haven’t fully bought into the propaganda, , would rather try out drugs and engage sexually in the forest.
Unlike their gentle equivalents, these colorful critters display genitals , obvious libidos.
For one particularly cruel, skeptical animal, the character Bluey, the conflict with the unicorns transforms into a road toward dominance — and especially to dominance over his gentler, more compassionate sibling Tubby.
Bluey behaves aggressively , an obvious psychopath , and as fear dominates his group and kills his comrades sequentially, he seizes progressively influence for himself, via progressively gory, destructive ways.
At the same time, the unicorns are enduring their own nightmare, through an expanding, deadly beast in their forest.
“At the beginning, it appears as a lighthearted film,” the filmmaker said. “Yet it evolves into a more dramatic and melancholic movie. And ultimately, it transforms into a horror film.”
Unicorn Wars begins resembling one of the most quirky films from a legendary animator, that uncover a wicked pleasure in allowing drawn beings swear, engage in violence, or sex each other up.
Subsequently it becomes something more like a darker film from the same artist, featuring progressively explicit brutality and a noticeable relation to genuine tragedy of war.
Ultimately, it becomes a complete extreme drama carnage.
The fear that makes the film a Halloween-friendly viewing begins well before than one might expect.
The Unicorn Wars is one for the devoted lovers of violence, for fans of graphic films who wish to view something they’ve never viewed until now, and can endure a story that offers unflinching brutality.
View it in a dark room without any distractions, and the conclusion will burrow into your mind and take up residence there.
