Soccer Expert Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match victorious streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, but can the English top division leaders recover against local foes Tottenham this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football expert Chris Sutton.
"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, versus AI, readers and a variety of guests.
For week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's latest album, the new release, is available on Friday.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of multiple charity football games down the years - but he is not intending a professional return as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.
"I will not push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he added.
"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a period too.
"My dad did it with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, however. Burnley are well organised and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.
It suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's forecast: 1-2
Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.
In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.
The Hammers' sole on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno was still that team's coach.
Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or the home side responding?
I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.
A family member advised me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.
The forward will probably score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had much success on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's side pose much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually proves to be rather tight. 1-1
The computer's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six games.
They have have plenty of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.
Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.
The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.
But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to carry on going against Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Considering the home side's home form, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
The expert's prediction: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
