Jurgen Klopp states a return to manage Liverpool is conceivable.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club is a possibility. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought Champions League success and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, now holds roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and as an advisor for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, though countless followers who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he explained to his interviewer: “I said I refuse to lead a different club within the country. Therefore in case it's my former club...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”
“I’m 58, which suggests I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll simply watch what lies ahead.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on which situations must arise to draw him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip media briefings repeatedly each week or constant media duties weekly.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out with the team having a nice chat, I appreciate that. With many victories thus frequently a very good mood in the building. Remaining with me is Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that took the title last term. The team has suffered four in a row in all competitions after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the suggestion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward such as Wirtz, critics will regret if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
He shared movingly about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, along with the consequences at the club. The forward died tragically in a road accident together with his sibling recently.
“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about his on-field talent, it's his character. I can’t imagine the dressing room missing him. I still cannot speak properly about it. It was an incredible shock for all the boys too. Not a single person might employ it for poor performances yet it's the reality. Being in that space where his spirit remains. Dealing with that individually is difficult. Unbearable.”
