Former Physician Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician now faces charges for committing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
