Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Problems.

'Serious blow' for England after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

The English seamer added to England's injury problems when he left the ground during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson felt a problem in his hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The touring camp indicated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and required time away from the action in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The final Test in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January gets underway this coming Sunday.

England have previously lost fast bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and another paceman to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was left out of the third Test, then recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.

The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets in Australia's first innings, then making 28 with the bat being one of only three teammates to get into double digits.

Post a single over at the end of day one, he returned the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

However, at the end of that over, he bowled a slower ball to the batsman and immediately felt his left hamstring.

The English bowler was recalled for the Boxing Day Test following his omission of the third.
