British tennis star Emma Raducanu wraps up the current season and will keep trainer for 2026.
The British player reached the third round in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.
The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events of the year due to a medical condition that has affected her in recent days.
At 22 years old was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover ahead of launching next year's training.
These plans will include her coach Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together again next season.
She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She needed once more a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.
Raducanu was also moving noticeably restricted in the final set in the match with Zhu due to a lower back issue that has troubled her at times this year.
These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally for the first time in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.
Raducanu had three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.
Raducanu won 28 victories during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.
As Britain's top player made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament then falling in a three-set match to fourth-ranked Pegula.
Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.
The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.
Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.
She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.
Roig joined her in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
